We are now back home and happy to be!  We had such a good trip! Before bording the bus that was to take us to the ferry and, ultimately, to the Vancouver airport, small groups of students went with their parent chaperones through the streets of Chinatown and did a bit of shopping for souvenirs.  Here you see Mme. Wernli's small group in Fan Tan Alley, the smallest street in Victoria.

Back at the Vancouver airport, we had to wait an extra 2 and a half hours for our plane that was delayed because of the fog in Prince Rupert.

We occupied ourselves by playing games, taking pictures and videos of each other, reading, running around and eating.  Here you see Robert while he is looking at what he has just filmed in the South Terminal.

When we finally arrived home, we were welcomed by our parents and friends, tired but content!

Would we do it again?  You bet!

We are thankful for the resources provided by the BC Provincial Capital Commission.  They were very helpful in that they initiated us to the provincial capital's many attractions and gave us glimpses into its past. We were thus able to prepare projects for our regional heritage fair in Terrace on May 21.

Many students won prizes at the fair and some were chosen to participate in the Provincial fair taking place in Barkerville from June 30 to July 4.  For our own benefit, we also learned about the places we would see ahead of time.  I visited the Butchart Gardens with a group of students who had prepared a display for the regional fair  and was impressed with how much they already knew about the place, its curiosities and hidden beauties.

Thumbs up too to the parents who were very helpful with fundraising for this trip, and to Henny Beertema, Dean Paranich and Pauline Rubinato who were our chaperones on this trip.

Again, we thank our donors:  Coast Mountains School District, the Smithers Exploration Group, the Bulkley Valley Credit Union, the Kispiox Band, and Urs Wernli Sawmilling.  We wouldn't have been able to do so much without your efforts and gifts!

Please, come and visit us at the school in a couple of weeks to see more pictures and to hear each student tell you about this trip. One last thank you:  to Doug Thomson for putting our pictures and words on the JFE web page :-)
